What it really costs in year 1 to run 500 trademarks on Iolite, JSK IP Suite, MikeLegal, Provakil and Claw, with the maths shown, the price pages linked, and an honest view of who each tool is for.

Comparison · IP Software Cost

If you hold or manage about 500 trademarks in India, the real cost of IP software is not the headline price. It is the per-mark fee, the seat fee, the GST, and whether you still need a second tool for court matters. This page works out year-1 cost for 500 trademarks on Iolite, JSK IP Suite, MikeLegal, Provakil and Claw, shows the sums, and explains which tool suits which job. Prices were last verified in October 2026 from each vendor’s own page.

The short answer
  • Year-1 cost, 500 marks, 3 users: JSK cloud about Rs 1,60,000 (+GST), Iolite about US$1,860, Claw Rs 32,997 (excl. GST). MikeLegal and Provakil are quote-only.
  • Different jobs: Iolite and JSK are IP docketing specialists. Claw is all-in-one for India, registry plus court.
  • Claw limits: no copyright registration tracking, and not a global docketing system.
  • Last verified: October 2026. Always confirm current prices with each vendor.

01Why IP software cost is hard to compare

IP software in India is priced in at least four different ways, so two quotes for the same 500 trademarks rarely look alike. Comparing them takes some arithmetic.

Some tools charge per mark, some per seat, some neither

Iolite charges per docket and per staff login. JSK IP Suite cloud charges per trademark plus a fixed yearly fee. MikeLegal and Provakil do not publish price pages for their IP products, so you must ask for a quote. A bundled platform may charge per user and include IP inside a wider plan. These are different units, so a "cheap" number on one page can become the costliest line on your invoice once your portfolio grows.

Currency and tax change the real number

One vendor bills in rupees with GST added on top. Another bills in US dollars. Foreign-currency billing adds exchange rate movement and possible bank or card charges, and you should confirm whether any Indian tax applies on your invoice with the vendor. A fair comparison states the tax position beside every figure.

The portfolio is only half the job

A trademark does not live only at the registry. It is renewed, opposed, watched and, sometimes, enforced in court. Under the Trade Marks Act, 1999, registration is renewed every ten years (section 25), and a missed renewal can cost you a mark. Many teams pay for registry docketing in one tool and then track the infringement suit in another place. That second tool is a hidden cost.

Scope of this page

This page is about cost, for a portfolio of 500 trademarks. For the watch-service side, see our guide to trademark watch services in India. For the buy-once versus rent question, see perpetual vs subscription IP software.

02What good looks like when you compare cost

A fair IP software cost comparison uses the same portfolio size, the same period, and the same tax treatment for every tool.

  • Same portfolio: here, 500 trademarks and 3 users, for year 1 only.
  • Same tax view: every figure below is before GST unless stated.
  • Sourced and dated: each price links to the vendor’s own page with the date we read it.
  • Honest about jobs: a docketing specialist and an all-in-one platform do different jobs, so the cheapest line is not always the right pick.
  • Scaling: what happens to the bill at 1,000 or 2,000 marks.
The cheapest IP software is the one that matches your portfolio size and your job, not the one with the lowest number on the pricing page.

03Year-1 cost for 500 trademarks

For 500 trademarks and 3 users, the year-1 sticker cost ranges from about Rs 33,000 for Claw to about Rs 1,60,000 for JSK IP Suite cloud, with Iolite at about US$1,860. MikeLegal and Provakil are quote-only. All prices were read on their official pages in October 2026.

How the sums work

  • JSK: the cloud page lists Rs 300, Rs 280 and Rs 250 per trademark across Starter, Standard and Premium packages, plus a fixed annual subscription of Rs 35,000. At the Rs 250 rate, 500 x 250 = Rs 1,25,000, plus Rs 35,000 = Rs 1,60,000. At the Rs 300 Starter rate the total would be Rs 1,85,000. JSK also sells hosted licence packages, which are a different, one-time model.
  • Iolite: the Professional tier is US$3 per docket per year plus US$120 per staff login per year. 500 x 3 = US$1,500, plus 3 x 120 = US$360, giving US$1,860. The Standard tier at US$2 would cut the docket line to US$1,000. The rupee value depends on the exchange rate on the day you pay.
  • Claw: Premium is Rs 10,999 per user per year (Rs 1,099 per month), excluding GST. Three seats come to Rs 32,997. IP is bundled inside Premium, so there is no separate per-mark charge and the number does not rise as your mark count grows.

Two honest cautions. First, these are sticker prices, not total cost: set-up, data migration and training are not in these figures for any vendor. Second, the tools do different jobs, which the next sections explain.

04The five tools, compared fairly

The list below is not a ranking. Each tool is described by the job it does best, so you can match it to your need.

1

JSK IP Suite

India-built trademark and patent docketing software for IP law firms, sold as cloud, hosted or server licence.

Strengths
  • Built for Indian IP practice, with trademark and patent management for attorneys and agents.
  • Published price page, with a pay-per-mark cloud model and hosted packages for those who prefer a larger one-time licence.
  • A good fit for IP firms with a high volume of registry matters.
Keep in mind
  • Cloud cost rises with each mark you add, so a growing portfolio raises the bill.
  • It is a docketing tool. Court litigation tracking is a different job.

Best for IP firms and attorneys who want a dedicated Indian docketing system.

2

Iolite

Cloud trademark and IP management software for law firms, with docketing across many jurisdictions.

Strengths
  • Its site describes docketing across 170+ jurisdictions, including India, the USA, UK and EUIPO.
  • A published, simple price: per docket and per staff login, in three tiers.
  • Client portal and IP office synchronisation features described on its site.
Keep in mind
  • Priced in US dollars, so exchange rate and tax treatment need checking.
  • Registry and docket focused. Indian court case tracking is a separate matter.

Best for IP firms handling both Indian and foreign marks that want a clear per-docket price.

3

MikeLegal

An Indian legal and compliance technology company with IP-related offerings.

Strengths
  • Established Indian legaltech vendor serving corporate legal teams.
  • Pricing is tailored to each client, which can suit complex enterprise needs.
Keep in mind
  • No public price for the IP product, so you cannot compare cost without a quote.

Best for Corporate teams that prefer a custom, vendor-led engagement.

4

Provakil

A litigation and contract management suite used by Indian legal teams.

Strengths
  • Established Indian platform for litigation and contract management.
  • Suited to in-house teams that run many matters.
Keep in mind
  • No public price page, so cost comes only by quote.

Best for In-house teams that want a broader litigation and contract suite and are comfortable with quote-based pricing.

5

Claw

An all-in-one IP solution for India: registry tracking and IP litigation tracking in one platform.

Strengths
  • IPR Solutions tracks IP India matters across trademarks, patents, designs and geographical indications.
  • Trade Marks Journal conflict monitoring using text, phonetic and visual matching, with alerts.
  • Pending compliances, including trademark renewals and patent annuity and response deadlines, plus pending hearings.
  • The court side too: IP litigation across every Indian court with a case website, including the Delhi High Court IP Division by case-type code and by party.
  • IP is bundled in Premium at Rs 10,999 per user per year, excluding GST.
Keep in mind
  • It does not yet track copyright registration at the Copyright Office. For copyright it is court-side only.
  • It is not a global multi-jurisdiction docketing system.
  • For very high volume IP firm docketing, Iolite and JSK are specialists.

Best for Teams that want India registry and court tracking in one place, at a bundled price.

Where each tool leads depends on the job. Claw does not lead on every row, and the last column says where it does not.

06How to choose

Pick the tool by the job and the size of your portfolio, then use the cost table to check it fits your budget.

If you run an IP law firm with a high volume of registry work, JSK IP Suite or Iolite are specialist docketing systems and are worth a demo. Iolite also fits you better if many marks are outside India. If you are a startup or a company with a few hundred marks and also face infringement suits, a bundled platform can cost far less than a docketing tool plus a litigation tool. See the best trademark software for startups in India. If you want a custom corporate engagement, ask MikeLegal and Provakil for a written quote, and ask for the exact unit of pricing (per mark, per user, per module).

Ask every vendor the same five questions: what is the per-unit price, what is included, what is the tax treatment, what is the cost at double the portfolio, and what does data export look like if you leave.

07Where Claw fits

Claw is an all-in-one legaltech platform for Indian advocates, law firms, and corporate legal teams, combining AI-based case search, an AI legal assistant (Legal GPT), case management, and compliance automation across all Indian courts and tribunals.

On the IP side, Claw’s IPR Solutions tab tracks IP India registry matters across trademarks, patents, designs and geographical indications. It monitors the Trade Marks Journal for conflicting marks using text, phonetic and visual matching, and alerts you. It lists pending compliances, such as trademark renewals and patent annuity and response deadlines, and pending hearings, with related documents and tasks. Alongside that, it tracks IP litigation across Indian courts with a case website, covering 9,102 courts, benches and forums, and offers IP judgment research over 30 crore+ judgments through LegalGPT.

That is why the Claw line in the cost table is low: IP is bundled in Premium, not sold as a separate IPR-only product. The per-search litigation product on the Claw price page is a separate item and does not apply to IP tracking. For a team that needs registry and court in one place, this is the all-in-one India IP option, and on that job we rank it first. For the specialist depths listed under Who should NOT buy Claw, other tools are better.

08Who should NOT buy Claw

Claw is the wrong choice in these cases, and it is better to know that before you buy.

  • You need global multi-jurisdiction docketing and annuities. Anaqua, Clarivate and Dennemeyer are built for that.
  • You are an IP firm with very high volume registry docketing. Iolite and JSK IP Suite are dedicated specialists.
  • Your work is USPTO or CIPO first. Alt Legal is a better fit.
  • You need AI prior-art or structure search. PatSnap, Questel and IPRally are built for it.
  • You need mass marketplace takedowns. Red Points and Corsearch focus on that.
  • You run a technology transfer office lifecycle. Wellspring and Inteum are made for it.
  • You need to track copyright registration. Claw does not yet track the Copyright Office. It covers copyright only on the court side.

10Frequently asked questions

How much does IP software cost in India for 500 trademarks?

For 500 trademarks and 3 users, year-1 sticker cost is about Rs 1,60,000 plus GST on JSK IP Suite cloud (Premium package), about US$1,860 on Iolite Professional, and Rs 32,997 excluding GST on Claw Premium. MikeLegal and Provakil publish no price. Figures were verified in October 2026 and exclude set-up and training.

What is the cheapest IP software in India?

On published prices for a 500 mark portfolio, Claw Premium is the lowest at Rs 32,997 for 3 seats, excluding GST. It is a different kind of tool from Iolite and JSK, though, which are specialist docketing systems with deeper registry features. Cheapest is not best if you need those features.

How does JSK IP Suite charge for cloud?

JSK’s cloud page lists Rs 300, Rs 280 or Rs 250 per trademark per year across three packages, plus a fixed annual fee of Rs 35,000, with GST added. It also sells hosted licence packages. Check its pricing page for current figures.

How does Iolite price trademark docketing?

Iolite lists three tiers: Standard at US$2 per docket per year, Professional at US$3, and Enterprise at US$4, each plus US$120 per staff login per year. Enterprise adds US$120 per client. Confirm the tax position for Indian customers with Iolite.

Do MikeLegal and Provakil publish their pricing?

No. Both are quote-based, so a cost comparison needs a written quote from each vendor. Ask for the unit of pricing, what is included, and the cost at a larger portfolio size.

Does Claw track trademark renewals and journal conflicts?

Yes. Claw’s IPR Solutions tab tracks IP India matters, monitors the Trade Marks Journal for conflicting marks using text, phonetic and visual matching, and lists pending compliances such as trademark renewals. It does not yet track copyright registration, and it is not a global docketing tool.
