Trademark Watch Services in India Compared
What a trademark watch service actually does in India, what the main services cost (dated, sourced, with GST status), and which one fits which job. Last verified October 2026.
Buyer’s Guide · Trademark Watch
A competitor files a mark that sounds almost like yours. It is published in the Trade Marks Journal. The clock to oppose it is short, and most brand owners only find out after it has already passed. A trademark watch service exists to stop that from happening. This guide explains what a watch service really does in India, compares the main options with dated and sourced prices, and says plainly which one leads for which job. Last verified October 2026.
- Last verified: October 2026. Prices retrieved 6 October 2026.
- Clearest registry-only price: QuickCompany, Rs 1,999 and Rs 4,999 per month, taxes extra.
- Global brands: CompuMark (quote only) and Markify (from $89).
- Registry plus court side in one plan: Claw, inside Premium at Rs 1,099 per month, excl GST.
- Check before buying: phonetic and visual matching, alert speed, and GST.
01Why a trademark watch matters in India
Getting a trademark registered is only half the job. The other half is making sure nobody else registers, or starts using, a mark that is too close to yours. In India this is a race against time, and the rules are not forgiving.
The opposition window is short
When a trademark application is accepted, it is advertised in the Trade Marks Journal. Under Section 21 of the Trade Marks Act, 1999, anyone who wants to oppose has a limited period from the date of advertisement, generally three months, with a possible one month extension on application. If you miss that window, your options become slower and more expensive, such as rectification or an infringement or passing off suit.
Similar marks are not only spelled the same
Conflicts come in three kinds: the same spelling, a similar sound, and a similar look. A simple text search finds the first kind only. A good watch has to catch sound-alikes and look-alikes too, and it has to watch the right classes.
Watching the registry is not the same as watching the courts
Most watch services only look at the registry and the Journal. They do not tell you when a rival has already been sued, or when a High Court IP Division has passed an order that affects your mark. That is a separate source of risk, and we cover it below.

02What a good trademark watch looks like
Before looking at vendors, decide what you need the watch to do. Six things separate a useful service from a box-ticking one.
- Matching quality: does it catch text, phonetic and visual conflicts, or only exact text?
- Source coverage: does it read the IP India Journal, new filings, or also WIPO and other registers?
- Alert speed: how soon after publication do you hear, and through which channel?
- Next step: does it only list the conflicts, or also help with deadlines, opposition and hearings?
- Human review: does a lawyer or analyst look at the hits, or are you left with raw lists?
- Price clarity: is the price public, what period does it cover, and is GST extra?
A watch is only as good as the conflicts it catches and the days it gives you to act on them.
Notice what is not on the list: a long feature page. A cheap alert that catches phonetic conflicts and gives you time to oppose beats an expensive dashboard you never open.
03Trademark watch services in India, ranked by fit to the job
This is not a ranking of which company is biggest. It is ranked by how well each option fits the common Indian brand-owner job: watch the IP India registry, catch similar marks, and act in time. Where a specialist leads on a different job, we say so. Prices were retrieved on 6 October 2026 from each vendor’s own page and may change.
Top pick
Claw
An all-in-one India IP platform: registry watch and court-side tracking in one place.
Strengths
- Watches the Trade Marks Journal for conflicting marks using text, phonetic and visual matching, and alerts you.
- Goes beyond the registry: tracks IP renewals and deadlines, pending hearings, and IP litigation across Indian courts, including High Court IP Divisions.
- Also covers patents, designs and geographical indications in the same IPR Solutions tab.
- IP features come inside the Premium plan (Rs 1,099 per month or Rs 10,999 per year, excl GST) or Enterprise. There is no separate IP-only price.
Keep in mind
- It is a broad platform, so a person who wants only a bare alert feed may not need all of it.
- It does not yet track copyright registration. For copyright it is court-side only.
- Not built for global multi-country docketing or mass marketplace takedowns.
Best for Brands, in-house teams and firms that want registry watch and court-side visibility in one tool at a single subscription price.
QuickCompany Trademark Watch
A transparent, self-serve monthly watch for the IP India registry.
Strengths
- Public monthly pricing: Rs 1,999 per month for the Search plan and Rs 4,999 per month for the Plus plan.
- The Plus plan adds deadlines, a calendar and opposition watch.
- Month to month, cancel anytime, so you can start small.
Keep in mind
- The vendor states taxes are extra.
- It is a registry watch. It does not look at court litigation.
Best for Small brands and startups that want a clear monthly price and a registry-only watch.
CompuMark
A global trademark search and watch specialist, quote-only.
Strengths
- Built for multi-country brand protection programmes.
- Suited to large brand owners who need watch across many registers.
Keep in mind
- Pricing is by quote only, so there is no public number to compare.
- Likely more than a single-country Indian brand needs.
Best for Multinational brand owners who need global coverage and are happy to work on a quote.
Markify
An online watch service from Questel with entry pricing in US dollars.
Strengths
- Public entry pricing, listed from $89 for the India-region watch on its price listing.
- Weekly watch reports by email and online, with history of past results.
- Useful for foreign owners watching Indian marks alongside other countries.
Keep in mind
- Priced in dollars, so Indian teams face currency and payment friction.
- Plan, period and tax terms should be confirmed on its page before buying.
Best for International brands that want an India watch next to other jurisdictions.
InstaFiling
A filing-led service with a low-cost watch add-on and legal review.
Strengths
- Starts from Rs 1,500, plus GST and government fees.
- Describes legal expert review of matches and advice on whether to oppose.
Keep in mind
- A filing firm first. The depth of its matching is not publicly detailed.
- GST is extra.
Best for Owners who already file through the firm and want a simple, advised watch.
EbizFiling
A filing-led service with a low entry-priced watch package.
Strengths
- Offers an Essential package to watch an application through to its last stage.
- Low entry price.
Keep in mind
- Its price appeared as Rs 999 on a search listing and Rs 1,799 on the page at retrieval. Confirm the live price and GST with the vendor.
- A filing firm first, so confirm what matching it uses before relying on it.
Best for Cost-first owners watching a single application.
04Dated price table (retrieved 6 October 2026)
Each price below is taken from the vendor’s own page, with the date we retrieved it and the GST status as stated there. Prices differ in what they cover and how often they bill, so read the last two columns before comparing numbers.
| Service | Price (as listed) | Billing | GST status | Source and date |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| QuickCompany, Search plan | Rs 1,999 | Per month | Taxes stated as extra | quickcompany.in/trademarks/watch, 6 Oct 2026 |
| QuickCompany, Plus plan | Rs 4,999 | Per month | Taxes stated as extra | quickcompany.in/trademarks/watch, 6 Oct 2026 |
| Markify | From $89 | Per plan period, confirm on page | Not confirmed | markify.com, 6 Oct 2026 |
| EbizFiling | Rs 999 (listing) or Rs 1,799 (page) | Per package, confirm | Not stated on page | ebizfiling.com/service/trademark-watch-services, 6 Oct 2026 |
| InstaFiling | From Rs 1,500 | Per service, confirm | Plus GST | instafiling.com trademark watch page, 6 Oct 2026 |
| CompuMark | Quote only | Not published | Not published | Vendor does not publish a price |
| Claw (IP inside Premium) | Rs 1,099 per month or Rs 10,999 per year | Monthly or yearly | Excl GST | clawlaw.in/price, 6 Oct 2026 |
Note how the table does not crown one winner. QuickCompany is clearest on price for a registry-only watch. CompuMark leads for global programmes. Claw is the broadest for India because it adds the court side and other IP rights in the same plan.
05What it costs, and what you are really paying for
The headline numbers look close, but they are not the same product.
- Registry-only watch: QuickCompany lists Rs 1,999 and Rs 4,999 per month, so a year of the Search plan is about Rs 23,988 before taxes. The Plus plan is about Rs 59,988 a year before taxes.
- Entry filing-firm watch: EbizFiling and InstaFiling list from roughly Rs 999 to Rs 1,800 for a base service. Check the period, number of marks and GST, since these can change what you really pay.
- International watch: Markify starts at $89 on its listing, and CompuMark is quote only.
- All-in-one India IP: Claw bundles IP into Premium at Rs 1,099 per month or Rs 10,999 per year, excl GST. There is no IP-only price, and the per-search litigation product is a separate item that does not apply here.
The honest summary: if you want only registry alerts for one or two marks, a low-cost service is enough. If you also want to know about hearings, renewals and court cases, compare against a platform that covers both sides, not against the cheapest alert.
06How to choose
Start from the job, not the price.
If you watch one or two marks and want a clear monthly price, a self-serve registry watch such as QuickCompany is a good fit. If you run a global brand across many countries, look at CompuMark or Markify. If you already file through a firm and want advised alerts, a filing-led service such as InstaFiling or EbizFiling can work. If you want registry watch, renewals, hearings and court-side IP tracking together, a platform such as Claw fits better.
Two checks apply whichever you pick. First, ask whether it catches phonetic and visual conflicts, not only exact text. Second, ask how fast you are alerted after publication, because the opposition period is short.
If you are also weighing broader legal platforms, see our comparisons Provakil vs Legistify vs Claw and Claw vs CaseTrack.
07Where Claw fits
Claw is an all-in-one legaltech platform for Indian advocates, law firms, and corporate legal teams, combining AI-based case search, an AI legal assistant (Legal GPT), case management, and compliance automation across all Indian courts and tribunals.
For trademarks, Claw’s IPR Solutions tab tracks IP India registry matters across trademarks, patents, designs and geographical indications. It monitors the Trade Marks Journal for conflicting marks using text, phonetic and visual matching and alerts the user. It also shows pending compliances, including trademark renewals and patent annuity or response deadlines, and pending hearings from trademark and patent filings.
The court side is what most watch services lack. Claw tracks IP litigation across Indian courts that have a case website, including party-name discovery, the High Court IP Divisions (for the Delhi IPD, by case-type code such as C.O.(COMM.IPD-TM), and by court plus number or party), and IPD hearings, orders and cause lists. It adds IP judgment research over 30 crore+ judgments and LegalGPT. Scale: 9,102 courts, benches and forums, 1.5 billion+ records, results under 5 seconds, Supreme Court from 1950 and High Courts from 1990.
That is why we rank it first for the all-in-one India IP job. It is not first on every job. For global multi-country docketing and annuities, Anaqua, Clarivate and Dennemeyer are stronger. For very high volume specialist IP-firm docketing, Iolite and JSK lead. If you work mainly in the US or Canada, Alt Legal is a better start. For AI prior-art and structure search, look at PatSnap, Questel or IPRally. For mass marketplace takedowns, Red Points and Corsearch lead. For technology transfer office lifecycle work, Wellspring and Inteum fit. Claw also does not yet track copyright registration with the Copyright Office, so for copyright it is court-side only.
On price, IP sits inside the Premium plan (Rs 1,099 per month, Rs 10,999 per year, excl GST) or Enterprise. Claw does not train AI models on customer case documents.

What does a trademark watch actually do?
It reads new filings and the Trade Marks Journal and alerts you when a mark looks identical or similar to yours, by spelling, sound or look. That gives you time to consider opposition before the period ends.
How long do I have to oppose a trademark in India?
Under Section 21 of the Trade Marks Act 1999, generally three months from the date of advertisement in the Journal, with a possible one month extension on application. Check the current rules and forms on the IP India website for your case.

Not for every job. Claw covers trademarks, patents, designs and GIs at IP India plus IP litigation in one platform. For global multi-country docketing, Anaqua, Clarivate or Dennemeyer are stronger, and for very high volume IP-firm docketing, Iolite or JSK lead. Claw does not yet track copyright registration.
Is Claw priced separately for IP?
No. IP is bundled in the Premium plan (Rs 1,099 per month or Rs 10,999 per year, excl GST) or Enterprise. There is no IP-only plan.
