A step-by-step guide to checking a Telangana High Court case status online, the search methods that work, and how to read each status field.

How-To · Court Case Status

You have a matter in the Telangana High Court and you need to know one simple thing: is it listed, and when? The answer is online, but the portals can be slow, the search options are confusing, and the case status service has had days when it was not available. One wrong case type or spelling returns nothing. This guide shows how to check a Telangana High Court case status step by step, which search method to use, and what each status word means. It was last verified in October 2026.

The short answer
  • Where to check: the official High Court website or eCourts High Court Services.
  • Search by: case number, CNR, party name, advocate name, FIR number or filing number.
  • Jurisdiction: the State of Telangana, with the court seated at Hyderabad.
  • To track with alerts: add the matter in Claw by party name or number. A free account is needed.

01Why Telangana High Court status checks go wrong

People search for this court in many ways: TS High Court, Telangana High Court, even Hyderabad High Court. They all mean the same court, but the portal needs exact details. These are the usual reasons a search fails.

  • Old and new case records: the High Court at Hyderabad served both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana until the state was split. Older matters may sit under different records, so a search without the right year can return nothing.
  • Wrong case type: the court uses many short case type codes, such as WP for writ petitions. Picking the wrong one returns no result.
  • Name spelling: party names in Telangana matters are often written in more than one way, because names move between Telugu, Urdu and English spellings. One spelling may miss the case filed under another.
  • Portal downtime: the High Court has put out notices when the case status service on its website was down for a technical issue. When that happens, you need a second route.
  • Daily checking: a status page shows today only. Nobody tells you when the listing changes, so you keep going back.

02The short answer

To check a Telangana High Court case status online, open the official High Court website or the eCourts High Court Services portal, select this court, and search by case number, CNR, party name, advocate name, FIR number or filing number. To track it with hearing and order alerts, add the matter in Claw by party name.

03Step by step: check status on the official portal

There are two official routes. The High Court runs its own site at tshc.gov.in, and the national eCourts High Court Services portal at hcservices.ecourts.gov.in also serves this court.

  1. Open the portal. Use the High Court website or the eCourts HC Services portal.
  2. Select the court. On eCourts HC Services, choose the Telangana High Court from the list of High Courts. The court sits at Hyderabad. If the portal shows a bench option, choose the one for your matter.
  3. Pick the search type. Choose case number, CNR, party name, advocate name, FIR number or filing number.
  4. Enter the details. For a case number, select the case type, then enter the number and year.
  5. Enter the captcha and press search.
  6. Open the case. You will see the parties, status, next hearing date, order history and any judgment.

If the search returns nothing, check the case type first, then the year, then try fewer words in the party name. If the High Court site itself is not responding, try the eCourts HC Services route, or the other way round.

04Search methods compared

Use the most exact detail you have. The table shows what each method needs and when it works best.

MethodWhat you enterBest when
Case numberCase type, number and yearYou have the case number from the filing receipt or an order
CNR numberThe 16 character Case Number RecordYou have the CNR. It gives the most exact match
Party namePetitioner or respondent name, and yearYou know the parties but not the number
Advocate nameName of the advocate on recordYou want every matter of one advocate or chamber
FIR numberFIR number, year and police stationThe case came from a criminal matter, such as bail or quashing
Filing numberThe number given at filingThe case is new and has no regular number yet

For a new filing, use the filing number first. The regular case number appears after registration. For Telangana criminal matters, the FIR number plus the police station is often the quickest way to find a quash petition or a bail matter.

05The court and its jurisdiction

The Telangana High Court is the High Court for the State of Telangana. It was set up as a separate court on 1 January 2019, when the common High Court for Hyderabad was split into the Telangana High Court and the High Court of Andhra Pradesh. Its seat is Hyderabad.

It hears writs, appeals, revisions, bail, quashing and other matters from across Telangana, including appeals and revisions from the district courts of the state. Hyderabad is also the main seat for most litigants, because the court sits in one place.

Unlike a court such as the Bombay High Court, which has several benches, the Telangana High Court works from a single seat as far as we can verify.

What this means for you: a matter from any district in Telangana is searched in the same place. You mainly need the right case type and year. If your case began before 2019, it may have started in the older common court, so keep the old case number handy as well.

06What the status words mean

The status page uses short terms. Here is what they mean in plain words.

  • Pending: the case is still alive. It has not been finally decided.
  • Disposed: the case is finished. A final order or judgment has been passed. Check the order for the result.
  • Listed: the case is on the cause list for a date and a court room.
  • For orders: the arguments are done on that point and the court will pass an order, often on the same day or a later date.
  • Reserved: the hearing is over and the court has kept the judgment for a later date. Reserved does not mean decided.

Always read the order

The status line is a summary. The order or judgment is what counts. Download it from the case page before you advise your client.
