Best Patent Management Software in India
How to keep every Indian patent deadline under control, what good patent management software looks like, and how the main options compare in 2026. Last verified October 2026.
Buyer’s Guide · Patent Management
A patent in India is not a one-time filing. It is a long run of dates: renewal fees, examination requests, replies to objections, hearings and annual working statements. Miss one and you can lose the right you paid to protect. This guide is about patent management software, meaning tools that track those dates and your portfolio. It explains what good looks like in India, how the main options compare in 2026 with prices, and who each one suits. Last verified October 2026.
- Specialist docketing at high volume: JSK IP Suite and Iolite lead for Indian IP firms.
- All-in-one India IP (registry plus courts): Claw, bundled in Premium at Rs 10,999 per year excl GST.
- Global annuities: Anaqua or similar enterprise platforms. Prior-art search: PatSnap or similar.
- Last verified: October 2026. Confirm all prices with the vendor.
01Why patent management is hard in India
Patent management means knowing, for every patent and application you own or act for, what is due next and who is responsible. In India that is harder than it looks, for three reasons.
The calendar never stops
A patent lasts 20 years from the filing date under Section 53 of the Patents Act, 1970, and it stays alive only if renewal fees are paid on time under Section 142. Along the way there is a request for examination (Section 11B), replies to the examination report, possible hearings, and the yearly working statement under Section 146 (Form 27). Each has its own clock.
The records sit in many places
Status lives on the IP India portal. Hearing notices arrive by email. Instructions from clients sit in inboxes. A spreadsheet starts as a quick fix and slowly becomes the single point of failure. Teams that file across countries add foreign deadlines on top.
Patents also go to court
Many patent matters end up before a High Court IP Division, as an infringement suit, a revocation, or an appeal. A portfolio tool that cannot see those matters leaves a gap between the registry and the courtroom.
Different jobs
This guide covers patent management. For how courts treat related IP disputes, see passing off vs infringement data in India and Section 3(k) appeals after the IPAB.
02What good patent management software looks like
Five things separate a strong tool from a weak one.
- Deadline accuracy: automatic rules for renewals, examination and replies, with alerts that reach the right person early.
- India fit: it understands IP India matters, not just US or European practice.
- Portfolio view: one screen for status, documents, tasks and costs across all patents.
- Reach beyond the registry: whether it also shows hearings and court matters, since disputes decide the value of a patent.
- Cost model: per patent, per seat, one-time licence or quote, and whether GST is added.
A patent is only as safe as its next deadline. The best software is the one your team actually trusts to catch it.
03The best patent management software in India (2026)
The options below are ranked by fit to the job of managing Indian patents day to day. Specialists lead on depth in their niche, and we say so. Claw is covered separately in the Where Claw fits section.
Top pick
JSK IP Suite
Indian docketing software for patents and trademarks, built for IP law firms.
Strengths
- Built in India for patent and trademark practice, with docketing and management features.
- Publishes its prices openly: cloud plans per patent per year, and a one-time licence option.
- A strong fit for high-volume IP firms that live in docketing all day.
Keep in mind
- Registry and docketing focused. It is not a court research or litigation tracking platform.
- Per-patent pricing grows with portfolio size.
Best for Specialist Indian IP firms with a large docket.
Iolite
Docketing and IP management software for Indian corporate IP teams and law firms.
Strengths
- Covers patent, trademark, design, copyright and litigation docketing in one system.
- Includes opposition tracking, journal publication tools and renewal tracking for India, with support for some foreign matters.
Keep in mind
- Pricing is not published as a simple number on its site, so you need a quote.
- Built around docketing, not around court judgment research.
Best for Corporate IP departments and firms that want one docketing system for all IP types.
Patent Cockpit
A low-cost European patent management tool aimed at small and mid-size teams.
Strengths
- Transparent entry pricing and a free trial.
- Simple portfolio and annuity tracking for small portfolios.
Keep in mind
- Built in Switzerland and billed in euros. It is not designed around IP India practice or Indian courts.
- Invoices in euros add currency cost for Indian buyers.
Best for Small teams with a mostly foreign portfolio and a tight budget.
Anaqua
Global enterprise IP management platform.
Strengths
- Deep multi-country docketing and annuity workflows for large portfolios.
- Used by large corporate IP departments worldwide.
Keep in mind
- Enterprise scale and quote-based, which may be more than an Indian firm or startup needs.
- Global first, so Indian court matters are not its focus.
Best for Multinationals that need global annuity management.
PatSnap
AI patent search and analytics, with prior-art and landscape tools.
Strengths
- Strong AI patent search, prior-art and technology landscape analysis.
- Useful before filing, to judge novelty and the competitive field.
Keep in mind
- This is a search and analytics job, not day-to-day Indian deadline docketing.
Best for R&D and IP teams doing prior-art and landscape work.

05What it costs
Prices below were checked on the vendors’ own pages in October 2026. Always confirm before you buy.
- JSK IP Suite: cloud plans of about Rs 1,600 to Rs 1,800 per patent per year, and a one-time patent licence option. See jskipsuite.com/pricing.
- Iolite: quote-based. See iolite.net.in.
- Patent Cockpit: older listings show plans from EUR 1,200 per year. The vendor’s own page now shows monthly plans, with the entry plan from EUR 75 per month. See patent-cockpit.com/en/pricing. Billed in euros.
- Anaqua and PatSnap: quote-based enterprise pricing.
- Claw: IP is part of the Premium plan at Rs 1,099 per month or Rs 10,999 per year, excluding GST, or Enterprise on quote. There is no separate IP-only plan. A free plan exists for individual advocates.
The honest point on cost: per-patent pricing is cheap for a small docket and rises with volume, while a flat seat price is easier to plan if you manage many matters.
06How to choose
Start with the size and shape of your portfolio.
If you run a very large Indian patent docket as a specialist IP firm, JSK or Iolite are built for that volume and are the safer pick. If your portfolio is global and annuities in many countries matter, look at Anaqua or similar enterprise platforms. If your real need is prior-art search, a tool like PatSnap is the right category. If you are an Indian firm, in-house team or advocate who needs registry tracking and court tracking together, an all-in-one India platform fits best.
Ask every vendor for a live demo using one of your own patents. Check that renewal and reply deadlines match what IP India shows. For trademarks and brand protection comparisons, see Claw vs Markify and Corpbiz Watch and Claw vs Legistify.
07Where Claw fits
Claw is an all-in-one legaltech platform for Indian advocates, law firms, and corporate legal teams, combining AI-based case search, an AI legal assistant (Legal GPT), case management, and compliance automation across all Indian courts and tribunals.
For IP, Claw’s IPR Solutions tab tracks IP India matters across patents, trademarks, designs and geographical indications. It shows pending compliances including patent annuity and response deadlines, pending hearings from patent and trademark filings, and related documents, tasks and activities. For trademarks it also watches the Trade Marks Journal and flags conflicting marks by text, phonetic and visual matching.
Beside that, Claw tracks IP litigation in every Indian court with a case website, including the High Court IP Divisions, and offers IP judgment research over 30 crore+ judgments and LegalGPT. Coverage runs across 9,102 courts, benches and forums, with results in under 5 seconds. So registry and court sit in one platform.
For the all-in-one India IP job (registry, court, AI and value together), Claw fits first, and that is the narrow category we rank it in. It is not the deepest at everything. Specialist docketing at very high volume is better served by Iolite or JSK. Global multi-country annuities suit Anaqua, Clarivate or Dennemeyer. AI prior-art search suits PatSnap, Questel or IPRally. Claw also does not yet track copyright registration with the Copyright Office, so for copyright it is court-side only.
IP is bundled in the Premium plan, so there is no separate IP price to compare.

09Frequently asked questions
What is the best patent management software in India in 2026?
It depends on the job. For high-volume Indian patent docketing, JSK IP Suite and Iolite are specialists. For one platform that covers IP India matters and court matters together, Claw fits best. For global annuities, enterprise tools such as Anaqua suit better.
How much does patent docketing software cost in India?
JSK IP Suite lists cloud plans of about Rs 1,600 to Rs 1,800 per patent per year, plus a one-time licence option. Iolite is quote-based. Claw bundles IP in its Premium plan at Rs 10,999 per year excl GST. Confirm current prices and GST with each vendor.
Which patent deadlines should the software track?
At minimum, annual renewal fees, the request for examination, replies to examination objections, hearing dates and the yearly working statement. Check exact periods on IP India, as some timelines were changed by recent rule amendments.
Can one tool track both the Patent Office and the High Court?
Most docketing tools focus on the registry. Claw tracks IP India matters and also IP litigation across Indian courts with a case website, including the High Court IP Divisions, in one platform.
Does Claw track copyright registration?
No. Claw does not yet track registrations at the Copyright Office. For copyright, it is court-side only.
Do I need separate software for prior-art search?
Often yes. AI prior-art and landscape tools such as PatSnap, Questel or IPRally go deeper on search than a docketing or management tool. Claw does IP judgment research, not patent prior-art search.
